Secret Things of God

February 12, 2024

Our faith in our salvation rest in our trust in God’s word that it is true and unfailing in all of God’s promises that he made through his Son’s life. Those who believes this are willing to surrender their life by denying themselves, dying to their sins and obeying Jesus.

Those who do not trust in God’s word will not surrender their life to Jesus. So, Jesus will not know them and will not entrust the secret things of God to them.

Paul’s love for Jesus made him willing to die for him and because of this Jesus entrusted to him the secret things of God.

1 Corinthians 4: 1 So then, men ought to regard us as servants of Christ and as those entrusted with the secret things of God.

Paul tells us where we can find the secrets things of God.

Colossians 1: 25 I have become its servant by the commission God gave me to present to you the word of God in its fullness—26 the mystery that has been kept hidden for ages and generations but is now disclosed to the saints.

All the secrets of God mystery will be revealed only to the saints when they seek to know God through all of God’s word in the Bible.

Those who have been trusted with the secret thing of God must prove their faithfulness to it.

1 Corinthians 4: 2 Now it is required that those who have been given a trust must prove faithful.

Saints are those who have set themselves apart to only follow and obey Jesus and have proved themselves by faithfully obeying his teachings and commandments by becoming his disciple.

Matthew 28: 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."

Jesus’ disciples baptize themselves by completely knowing the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit in the Bible and obey the teachings and commandments of Jesus out of love for God. These are the saints who will be entrusted with the secret things of God which they must prove their faithfulness to it.

This will spiritually mature them in having the mind of Christ through Holy Spirit teaching and reminding them to always have God’s viewpoint and help them discern when it is the world’s.

1 John 4: 4 You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. 5 They are from the world and therefore speak from the viewpoint of the world, and the world listens to them. 6 We are from God, and whoever knows God listens to us; but whoever is not from God does not listen to us. This is how we recognize the Spirit of truth and the spirit of falsehood.

You will recognize you are on the right path to Jesus when you know your viewpoint is God’s and not the world by the Holy Spirit recalling God’s truth from his word. Your viewpoint has nothing in common with the world’s religious belief, their lifestyle and what they value in this world.

This is especially important to recognize in church to keep Jesus as its head.

In Ephesians Paul teaches that the church must be like-minded in Christ by being united in our faith in Jesus and to build each other up so that we have the whole knowledge of Jesus.

Jesus promises the more you seek to know the name of God the more abundantly the Holy Spirit will teach you the wisdom of God. Those who do not seek God what they may have learned will be taken from them.

Matthew 25: 29 For everyone who has will be given more, and he will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken from him.

Paul teaches it will be Jesus who will judge if we have faithfully proved our trust in knowing his name and obeying him.

1 Corinthians 4: 3 I care very little if I am judged by you or by any human court; indeed, I do not even judge myself. 4 My conscience is clear, but that does not make me innocent. It is the Lord who judges me.

Jesus will judge to see if his disciples obeyed him and do not follow teachings not true to his word or following their feelings and instincts. Those who obey Jesus teachings are those who love God.

Jesus said when you have been entrusted with the knowledge of God’s truth the more will be asked of you.

Luke 12: 48 But the one who does not know and does things deserving punishment will be beaten with few blows. From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked.

This is why Paul said we should not forsake gathering with believers because then we become the body of Christ and each member has been entrusted with a spiritual gift by the Holy Spirit for the purpose of building each other up so together we attain the full knowledge of Christ.

1 Corinthians 4: 5 Therefore judge nothing before the appointed time; wait till the Lord comes. He will bring to light what is hidden in darkness and will expose the motives of men's hearts. At that time each will receive his praise from God.

Jesus knows the motive of everyone’s heart and when he returns he will judge to see if we have been faithful with what he has entrusted to us.

1 Corinthians 4: 6 Now, brothers, I have applied these things to myself and Apollos for your benefit, so that you may learn from us the meaning of the saying, "Do not go beyond what is written." Then you will not take pride in one man over against another. 7 For who makes you different from anyone else? What do you have that you did not receive? And if you did receive it, why do you boast as though you did not?

We must never go beyond what is written in the Bible then we can only boast that it is the truth of God and keep us from taking pride in our own words or that of others.

This is so important to remember that our every understanding of God must come from the Bible and explained in the fulness of it.

When telling someone what faith in Jesus means you must teach faith in the fulness of God’s word so that no one falls short in their faith that will keep them from being with God.

Be safe in Jeus, Glenn.
