I have often shared that the Holy Spirit lives in you which Jesus said he would send to his servant disciples to be their helper, counselor, and teacher.
Paul said our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit.
1 Corinthians 6: 19 Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 20 you were bought at a price. Therefore, honor God with your body.
Paul also said the Holy Spirit is our seal that guarantee our eternal life
Ephesians 1: 13 And you also were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, 14 who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God's possession--to the praise of his glory.
So, it is very important that your faith does not doubt the presence of the Holy Spirit lives in you because you believe in the gospel of your salvation.
Because the Spirit of God dwells in us what does James mean when he said this in:
James 4: 8 Come near to God and he will come near to you.
Because the Holy Spirit already dwells in us, James teaches to have the Holy Spirit come near to your spirit, your spirit needs to come near to the Holy Spirit. Just like in our relationship with our friends we need to get close to know and understand each other and in marriage it requires a deeper relationship between a husband and wife which comes through an intimate relationship with each other that creates a lasting bond.
To come close to the Holy Spirit our spirit must have an intimate relationship with Him to know his presence is in us.
So, how do we get intimate with God? Paul teaches this in:
1 Corinthians 8: 3 But the man who loves God is known by God.
You know God’s presence is with you because you know God knows you because of your love for him. You have an intimate relationship with God because you know what pleases his will and you obey it.
That is what Jesus said in:
John 14: 15 "If you love me, you will obey what I command. 16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever-- 17 the Spirit of truth.
John 14: 23 Jesus replied, "If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.

To love God is to obey the teachings of Jesus. Jesus also teaches how much we need to love God to intimately know him.
Matthew 22: 37Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.'
God said if you seek him with all your heart you will find him.
Jeremiah 29: 13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.
When you love God through Jesus’ teachings you will know his presence is in you because you begin to have the mind of Christ by recalling his teachings and his commandments.

John 14: 26 But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.

To recall the teaching of Jesus you must become his disciple which he commanded us to be by going after him with all your heart.

Luke 9: 23 Then he said to them all: "If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. 24 For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will save it.
Jesus tells us to be with him you must deny yourself of wanting worldly desires more than what God desires and you must die to your sinful nature and follow and obey him as your Lord. And you will be with him forever when you give up your life for this world and give your life to him and be saved.
So, be steadfast in your faith and believe that the Holy Spirit is in you because your spirit recalls the teachings of Jesus in the gospel and the teachings he gave to his apostles that we read in their letters for his church.
